This painting is based on some photographs from a trip to Lost Maples State Natural Area in
November 2008. The fall folliage that year was exceptional good due to dryer and cooler
air than usual in Texas. Normally, our autumns here in Texas are humid and very warm almost
up to the beginning of winter, but 2008 was an exception! I titled the painting, "Autumn Whisper" because it reminded me of how peaceful and quiet this place is. Lost Maples is located in a remote area of the Texas Hill Country near vanderpool. It is quite rocky and there are alot of hills in this region of Texas. I really like how the golds, reds, and oranges play against the greens of summer. This is perhaps the most spectacular state park I have every visited.
"Autumn Whisper" was recently submitted to PaintAmerica Association and was selected by
panel of jurors, as one the top mini 50 finalist in the U.S. It is indeed an honor to have one of my paintings selected. Painting will be shipped to the Coutts Museum in El Dorado, Kansas, where it will be exhibited and will travel from there to various museums and cultural centers through the early part of 2012.
